sushi and potstickers

Having been on limited activity for 3.5 weeks now (only 2 more weeks to go!), and being sick for 6+ weeks, getting out of the house is that much more wonderful!  Today, Paul and I took the kids to De Mae in Provo for lunch.  We figured they would wolf down the rice if nothing else.  Dallin and Ellie surprised us and slurped down the miso soup (sans tofu and green onion), and even tried the pot stickers and sushi.  Ellie liked the pot stickers, neither of them liked the sushi.  They, of course, loved the teriyaki chicken and the soy sauce soaked rice.  Paul isn't a huge fan of sushi or pot stickers, while I could eat them all day long.  I am, however, proud of all three of them for trying something new!  Do you like sushi?  I am looking for more excuses to go out for sushi.....

trying to get out of bed

Indeed.  I am 10 weeks.  I had some complications about three weeks ago that led me to think this one was going to be another miscarriage.  We were at my family reunion, no less.  I love my family and I am so grateful for the support that I felt.  It was kind of a bummer to go from "wahoo!  It's family party time!" to "wo-freakin-hoo, what the crap is going on with my body?!"  Instead, there was, indeed, a heartbeat, but the doctor told me to sit back, relax, don't strain yourself until we got into the 12 week appointment.  This would have been great, a vacation of sorts, if I didn't feel SO SICK.  Luckily, we have amazing family who take the kids for shaved ice and sleep overs, who clean my house and make me dinner, who sweep my floor, who scale walls, brake into my house and clean up spills and more spills, who get my kids in the car for me, who clean up throw up towels and buckets*, do laundry, take the kids for a walk.  And to my Savior, who has blessed us with tender mercies galore, like when I just could not put the kids to bed....just could not.  So they practically put themselves to bed and fell right asleep.  Or the times when they will quietly watch a movie, or play with their toys, and let me take a nap.  Oh, I am so grateful!

*I HATE throwing up in the toilet.  HATE IT!  That is where bums go, not faces.  No matter how clean the toilet, I will not throw up in it.  Instead, I carry around a big bowl, double lined with grocery sacks.  If I happen not to have the bowl around, a towel will have to do, which then get rinsed out if Paul is home, or thrown out if he is not.  Go ahead, roll your eyes.  I throw up a lot, and if it's in a toilet bowl, I can't stop because it is so disgusting and the water is splashing on my face and that makes me throw up more.  With all this talk about throw up, I think I must go get my bowl.

signs

you lay in bed most of the day
your son makes throw up sounds, laughs, and says that it sounds cool
you feel like crap
your kids watch a lot of tv
your daughter pretends, "oh, I am so sick!  my tummy hurts!  oh!"
your son says, "hey, you ate chocolate, then you threw up chocolate!"
your husband cleans it up
you are happy, but waiting to feel human again

Sugar Cereal

Obligatory disclaimer...this is Paul.  I am Kristen's husband, and a very occasional contributor to this little blog of hers (I know it say's P*dunc Clan, but really we all know it is hers).

So anyway, I have a question.  What qualifies as a sugar cereal?  Kristen and I were discussing the other day, as Captain Crunch has become our kid's "weekend" cereal (and my occasional late night cereal).

You see, I grew up on Shredded Wheat (not Frosted Shredded Wheat), Grape Nuts, and Wheaties.  Later we were introduced to the frosted variety of Shredded Wheat, which we thought was truly a sugar cereal.  The only exception the no sugar cereal atmosphere of our home was the little individual boxes of cereal that we got in our stockings at Christmas.  You thought you were the stuff, if you got the Frosted Flakes.

So, my question is:  What constitutes a sugar cereal?

Happy Anniversary Kristen!!!!!

Thank you for the most wonderful 9 years of my entire life!  You are truly my best friend, my love, my muse, and my life.  You have given me our two wonderful children (sorry about the miserable pregnancies), for which I am forever endebted.  Thank you for everything.  I love you.
